Peter Byrne

Musician – DRIMNAGH

Celebrating the release of “Land and Sea”

Peter Byrne and guitarist Conor Mahony have earned steady acclaim across the Irish folk music scene.

Hailing from Drimnagh in Dublin, Peter Byrne has been an active presence in local folk circles since the early 1970s. He spent years performing at legendary venues like The Meeting Place and Mother Redcaps Tavern, where he and his wife, Eilish Moore, hosted a weekly Saturday night Folk Club for more than ten years. Following a forty-year career at CIÉ, Byrne retired early and began collaborating with Newbridge-based musician Conor Mahony. Meeting for weekly rehearsals, Byrne brings a poignant vocal style that delivers each song with deep sincerity and emotion.

Conor Mahony, a classically trained guitarist from childhood, shares a rich passion for traditional and roots music. As a singer-songwriter, he crafts nuanced, intricate guitar arrangements designed to complement and elevate every melody.

Their debut album, Land and Sea, features a collection of traditional tracks beautifully produced by Frankie Lane. The recordings offer a delicate yet raw synthesis of heritage and creative innovation.
