The Lines
Folk Group from Drimnagh and Balinteer, Dublin
The Lines, is a four piece Irish Folk ballad band from South City Dublin. Two members of the band, Ryan Rogers and Aaron Johnston hail from Drimnagh. Naoise Moore and Brian Collins hail from Ballinteer. Ryan handles a massive portion of the band’s studio side, including recording and producing their tracks. Aaron leads on banjo and vocals and is joined by Naoise on vocals and rhythm guitar. Brian plays the tin whistle.
Their style is a love child mix between The Dubliners & Pogues and newer bands like The Mary Wallopers and The Scratch. Rather than classical or formal academy training, Ryan Rogers’ background is heavily rooted in hands-on, independent music engineering and grassroots production. He works closely with a local setup under the moniker @rymuproductions (often collaborating with Dublin audio engineer Mikey Rogers) to completely record, edit, and produce the band’s tracks.
Aaron Johnston’s musical development on the banjo and vocals is shaped by Dublin’s lively session scene. he band takes a proud DIY approach to their music, often collaborating closely with family, such as Mikey Rogers, who handles the mixing and mastering of their studio releases.
Formed in 2024 they have played sold out shows so far in Little Whelan’s, Churchtown Stores and in Sin É in December 2024. They are renowned for inviting other musical artists onto the stage to perform with this, such as Patrick “Paahto” Cummins, an Irish traditional multi-instrumentalist and guitarist.
While writing songs on a monthly basis they play at open Mic nights around Dublin in pubs like Whelans, Sin É and the Cobblestones.
